Round table “Free Dashkievich! Free Belarus! Stop 411” took place in Minsk.

Today, round table called “Free Dashkievich! Free Belarus! Stop 411” take place in Minsk. The conference organized by civil initiative Za Voliu (For Freedom) was devoted to discussing the ways to help imprisoned opposition activist, Chairperson of Young Front Zmicier Dashkievich, BelaPAN informs.

“We discuss the ways to abolish article 411 of the Criminal Code in Belarus to release Zmicier Dashkievich and other 16 political prisoners,” Hanna Shapucka, the coordinator of Za Voliu said.

Hanna Shapucka also noted this round table was not the first discussion of aid to political prisoners.

“However, there is almost no campaign of solidarity with political prisoners. And we can’t make it more active despite all our actions. Today we’re discussing our further steps which may be taken only if supported by all the not indifferent society.”

“If there will be a surge of solidarity, when thousands and thousands Belarusians start supporting political prisoners, only then they will be released. And, surely, when Europe stop playing with the dictatorship,” the activist added.

Zmicier Dashkievich, the Chairperson of opposition organization Young Front was tried on August 28.

He was charged with persistent violation of the rules of the penitentiary institution (article 411).
