The European Union policy is incompatible with good neighborhood relations, Andrej Savinykh, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, said following the resolution the Council of the European Union passed on Belarus on October 15, 2012.
“Today’s decisions of the Council of the European Union actually freeze Belarus-European Union relations at a level that cannot objectively satisfy any of the sides. The Belarusian side will not give in to pressure. We believe that the European Union’s policy is incompatible with good neighborhood relations,” the press secretary said.
Andrej Savinykh stressed: “It is possible to overcome the existing differences only if the two sides are willing to meet each other halfway. We call upon the European Union to stop using sanction-based thinking and put efforts into restoring the environment of mutual trust.”
